The inspiration for this image comes from various memories from my life. I was born in Truro, Nova Scotia and my family later moved to Toronto when I was very young. While living in Toronto, I spent many winter’s skating at a local ice rink with my friends. I have wonderful memories of my time in Toronto. I remember our local rink and the heated shack that was put up each year to help warm us up on cold winter days and from time to time we would hop on the subway to City Hall and skate on the rink there.
As I was working on this image, I was also thinking about the wonderful tree lighting ceremony that is held each year in downtown Truro, Nova Scotia. An event that Jim and I enjoy whenever we are home to celebrate Christmas.
My family moved back to Truro in 1974 and Jim and I met at the Truro high school (CEC). So when we retired, Jim and I decided to move back to the Truro area and we are having the time of our lives. Nova Scotia is such a beautiful province and there is so much to see and do here.
