This is the quilt painting that took my three years to complete. Originally, I intended the fabric to look like the “homespun” pattern but I wasn’t sure that I was experienced enough yet to do it justice. Instead, I decided to paint a variety of different patterns based on lines. This was a great opportunity to practice painting lines of different thicknesses. By the time I finished this painting, I had gained a lot of experience.
I call this painting “Fly Away” in memory of my Dad, Robert R. Molaski, who passed away almost two years ago of cancer. My Dad really liked the singer John Denver and this song was one of several that was played at his service. When I listen to the music and the words, I see my Dad “flying away” on a new adventure.
