Last Christmas, Jim and I spent the holiday with our friends Wayne and Katrina Bennett in Palm Beach, Florida. We were staying in Florida for the winter and since we were not with our family, they offered to host us for the holiday.
We had a wonderful time with Wayne and Katrina and we took a lot of photographs during that trip. One of the places that we returned to several times was the Juno Beach Pier for sunrise.
Our first shot was on Christmas morning and it was very beautiful. I had seen several photographs of the pier and I was anxious to photograph it myself.
We visited the pier each sunrise from the 25th to the 29th and each day the conditions were different. I spent the first two days figuring out a composition that I liked best and from there I tried different shutter speeds. In the end, I preferred a 30 second exposure which smoothed out the water and the sky. However, I also liked the movement of the water in the image above with a 1.0 sec exposure.

It places the viewer right into the picture. My first thought was oh that water would be so cold to stand in, but of course not, you were where water and thoughts are warmer.
